| Why would anyone buy a biography of Jim Morrison by authors who write on page 465 (bottom of page):
"Maybe what destroyed him was their refusal to let him set them free, or more likely, his realization that he had wasted the best years of his life on a few pages of misguided philosophy." The authors are making reference to the period of time when Jim Morrison was down and facing the thought of having to return to the Florida court system to once again face the trumped up charges that he faced in the Florida crimminal case launched against him. Jim Morrison "wasted the best years of his life on a few pages of misguided philosophy"? I think not. I think the authors "wasted their time writing this book, and it is a waste of time to read this book". Aloha. Peace. | |

| ..I read this book back in 1991 when it came out and reread it sporadically ever since. there is so much information here and a good analysis of Jim Morrison as a poet and a man.
The book is written for true fans of Morrison only. If you want a thorough understanding of who he was and how he became an icon of the era then this is the book for you. It is a scholarly biography and well researched. I would recommend it to anybody wanting to know Jim Morrison in depth. | |

| The Oliver Stone movie the Doors only talks about Jim Morrison and only the official time he spent with the band. This book, on the other hand, covers his entire life and it gets down to the specifics of life as a rock star very thoroughly. Jim Morrison was one of the most amazing people in the world and this book does him justice. God I wish he wasn't dead. |
