Great Study Aide |
| I found this book to be entertaining as well as informative. Studying for the GRE is a arduous task, but Suzee Vlk makes it somewhat fun and gives a lot of tips to use and practice. I haven't yet taken the GRE, but I feel more prepared for it after reading this book - and I love how she incorporates the vocabulary through out the book! The math section is great - it really simplifies the formulas you need to remember. In comparison, the verbal review is much shorter, and the analytical review is very very short. All in all, I would highly recommend it to someone panicing about taking this test!! |
This book is the best GRE-Prep I've used! |
| The auther uses humor throughout the review and incorporates basic lessons to get you through this agonizing (but quite important) process. She talks to those who just graduated with an undergraduate degree and are (hopefully) off to grad school AS WELL AS to those who haven't sat in class for years. Each question she presents includes a full explanation, along with potential traps, tips and very useful strategies. The author really makes you interested in "studying" for the GRE and helps you realize there is a way to prepare for this test! The book includes all of the appropriate reviews for each section of the real test (analogies, antonyms, reading comprehension, real math, quantitative review, logic, etc...) plus 2 complete practice tests. |
Math was Good but the Verbal needed some Help |
| Although the intentions were good, the verbal portion of this book lacked a thorough definition section. The auhor tries to infuse vocabulary words throughout the text, and is succeessful in teaching those few random words, but the book lacks a much needed extensive vocabulary list. (If you have not taken the GRE yet, the verbal portion is littered with those hardly used fifteen lettered words like "pulchritudinous") As a person who has struggled with Math and excelled in the Verbal on standardized tests, I was shocked to learn that I scored better in Math than I did Verbal (A first for me!) On a positive note, the math sections were very helpful. |
