I LOVED IT! | |
| I bought my reformer and only had the video that came with it. Despite the fact that this video only had 4 stars when I was browsing, I bought it because it was almost out of stock. Demand always says something! I love this tape! He talks you through the class as three pilates teachers perform the movements. It is a beautiful video and his instructions create almost a flow. I am new to pilates and I can't do everything on this tape, but I like that. I do a little bit and every day I do a little more. I think it is a 5 star tape! | |
This workout feels like a refreshing vacation | |
| Brent Anderson coaches three women in the use of the Pilates Reformer, using the Polestar Allegro Reformer for the workout. Watch the woman in front, Alice Becker Denovaro, whose form and comprehension of the moves are impeccable. Polestar is known for its use of imagery, so if you're looking for a detailed description of body placement for each exercise and its variation, you may not feel satisfied with this workout. But if you have prior beginning reformer experience, you'll find this tape will provide some apt images in the instruction, some challenging moves and a glorious stretched out feeling at the end. The tape includes bridge positions, lots of footwork, standing, hip openers, and upper body work. There is a lot of variety in the use of the reformer and the part of the body being worked, so don't expect to lay on your back for fifty minutes! There is also live percussion music accompanying the workout, which provides a lush environment to exercise in. That, along with Anderson's emphasis on breathing, results in an extremely relaxing and enjoyable time with the reformer, at the same time that you are doing some pretty amazing things with your body. The biggest problem I have with the tape is that Anderson limits his description of the moves to the Allegro Reformer, which I do not have. This machine uses different colored cords, so when he requests the use of two red and one yellow cord, I'm not sure if that corresponds to two or three cords on my reformer. It would have been helpful for him to have consistently added, "we want heavy resistance for this," or a similar remark to help those of us using less expensive models. There are many of us and we are all looking for new tapes! With that small quibble aside, I recommend this tape for anyone looking for a fun reformer experience with atmosphere included. |
