| Amazingly Beautiful Album,but yet so sad....... | |
| This album is incredibly crafted.....
Phyllis if only u were here......Your work is amazing...... Phyllis is an inspiration,Just like Minnie Riperton and Donny Hathaway is to me.....those 3 people are amazing legends and for aspiring R&B artist like me,singing since I was 5......INSTEAD OF LISTENING TO BUBBLE GUM LOLLIPOP R&B and LIMITED VOICED SINGERS.....i choose to dig deeper.....there has to be away to bring that classic soul back out that i find "Minnie Riperton" "Phyllis Hyman" and "Donny Hathaway" had......3 underrated artists with SOOOOO freakin much they had to offer and were ignored.......but the likes of singers today like Ashanti ,Loyd,Avant,and B2k and alot others that I can't name at the time......they are the wackest of todays music,and need layered STUDIO vocals to have a song sound good....and its pitiful ......it took me a long time to figure this out Im turnin 18 this FEB,and it took me along time to find out that music isnt about catchy songs and TIGHT beats.....but to actually feel an artist and love them for what they do is just amazing.....and just about every artist lacks that today.....so yes.....the workings of yesterday are quite alive in my heart and STEREO (lol) to all you who like that bubble gum music......U need to dig Phyllis cause,despite she is gone,she is still rockin the house!!!!!! and yes, she is all that and 5 bags of chips.... | |
| Affecting and sometimes heart rending | |
| I purchased this CD after reading about Phyllis Hyman in a newspaper article, which detailed her career and her death. If only she were still here to make more music like this. She has the power to go straight to the listener's heart with her voice, melodies, and lyrics. Every time I listen, I wish I could thank her for her work. | |

| I have never been a big Phyllis Hyman fan, always feeling that her voice was deserving of better material. Yet almost 10 years after her death, I purchased this CD, and gosh was I moved. Purchase this CD if only to listen to the final track, Give Me One Good Reason To Stay. I get really chocked up everytime I hear this tune, and am respectful of her defiant, and oh so poignant plea to exit and get some rest. God rest in peace Phyllis. |
