| My father and I would spend hours and hours, down the basement, in the den, listening to Percy Faith and his orchestra, The "Music of Christmas" album. Every selection is fantastic. The arragements are the best I have ever heard. It was always the first album we would pull out, at Christmas time, and the last album we would put away, after we rang in the new year. As years went by, the rest of my family ventured, one by one, down to the den to see what was keeping my father and I so occupied, at this joyous time of the year. They had the same reaction. They sat and listened as the stings and horns, of this beautiful orchestra, wrapped their hearts in the true feeling of Christmas. I can't listen to that album in the den anymore, but thanks to the miracle of re-production on CD, that wonderful feeling of Christmas is still alive, and this Perch Faith "Music of Christmas" is the first CD I pull out at Christmas time, and the last CD I put away after I ring in the new year. |

| This Percy Faith christmas cd, MUSIC OF CHRISTMAS (from 1958, I think) is the greatest instrumental religious christmas album I know of. Powerful, powerful, powerful. The orchestra is unbelievable in this recording and anybody who enjoys the religious side of christmas should get this cd. Even if you usually prefer the non-religious christmas songs (cd`s), you will still probably enjoy this a great deal because it is so christmassy. Great songs are GOOD KING WENCESLAS, DECK THE HALLS WITH BOUGHS OF HOLLY, HARK! THE HERALD ANGELS SING, JOY TO THE WORLD, GOD REST YE MERRY GENTLEMEN, and every other song. There is a chorus that occasionally pop up here and there but they hum rather than sing words, however this just adds to the amazing christmas sound this cd gives. This cd offers the best instrumental versions (and even the best versions over others that have singing) of many of the songs that are found on this cd. In fact, this is my favorite religious traditional christmas cd I have, it is just that good. If you want to have a real good christmas and you really enjoy the traditional religious side of christmas, then I would recommend Mitch Miller`s CHRISTMAS SING ALONG WITH MITCH so that you can have a great instrumental, but also a great singing cd of this christmas style. Also try Fred Waring and the Pennsylvanian`s NOW IS THE CAROLING SEASON which is great also but contains a few non-religious traditional christmas songs. But it`s this Percy Faith MUSIC OF CHRISTMAS that is beyond great that I am really enjoying a lot at the moment and let`s just hope that Percy Faith`s MUSIC OF CHRISTMAS - VOLUME 2 get`s released soon. It is done in the same style as this MUSIC OF CHRISTMAS (also called volume 1) but it (volume 2) is said to be even better than volume 1. With how good volume 1 is, I have trouble believing that. This volume 1 is highly recommended and you should enjoy it greatly. This is the way christmas music should always be. |

| This is the 1st Christmas CD that I play right after Thanksgiving, and the last one I put away. This is by far the best. If you love Christmas, and Christmas music, you need this CD in your collection. It starts off with a "loud and joyous" Joy to the World, and then quiets down with a soft and beautiful "Silent Night", this sets the tone for what is as delightful a Christmas CD as you can find. I think my favorite track is "The First Noel", this version is just perfect. |
