At first, the price of the drive sucked me in. . . |
| but then, I recieved it in the mail and it was not what i bargained for. I thought I might be able to say it was great for the price, but there are a few catches. If you read the editor's review, you would find out that the drive doesn't even come close to the claimed speed of 7.2 mps. When the review also says that the drive's tray is flimsy, it's not joking. The tray was extremely flimsy. In fact, it bent severely every time I reached to put in or take out a cd. Also, after reading reviews for other Digital Research products, I found that Digital Reasearch takes an extremely long time to return the mail in rebate check, if at all. I don't know if this pertained just to the drive I received, but the dial in the front of the drive for volume control scraped against the edges when I turned it. I have since returned the drive because i don't think the mail in rebate was worth all the problems I encountered with the drive. Still, it's not a bad drive if you are extremely patient, in a tight jam for money, and dont mind certain disadvantages. |
great and easy |
| This product is great. It installs easy and then you start up your computer and there is no problem. It is fast and easy, with great dilivery and nothing to search for on the web to make it work, like downloads. If I ever need another I'm keep this in mind. |
Poor customer service, but drive operates OK |
| The drive installed and perfomed OK for me. I was also one of the "lucky" ones who received a faster drive than what I ordered (supposedly, 1 in every 5 or so was randomly chosen to receive a faster drive). Take that for what it is worth. BUT, as for their rebate program, IT SUCKED! After about 2-3 months, I emailed Digital Research 4 times, and called twice, before FINALLY receiving a phone call from their customer service department. I then received the rebate after a total of about 4 months. Overall, I would neither buy nor recommend buying from Digital Research. |
