Don't claim to be a FF fan if you have not experienced this!
| Final Fantasy Anthology is truly a blessing to the new generation of FF fans. If you started out with the PS FFs, then you probably did not play the older ones. This compilation combines FFV and, most importantly, FFVI. FFV introduces the fantastic job system, but it is a very average game. The only reason you simply must buy this is FFVI. Considered as the best game in the series by many fans, this game is simply amazing. Although lacking in graphics by today's standard, almost every other aspect of this game beats the best of today's games! Be it the characters, story or music, FFVI is truly a masterpiece. I gave this a four-star rating only because the graphics don't match today's standards. | |
Two classics remake for the PS
| Final Fantasy VI... the last FF released on the SNES (as FFIII), and one of the richest. It did so many things right that it set the standard for innovation, play control, story, and graphics for years to come. Final Fantasy V... previously unreleased in America because it was "too hard" for American audiences... what a load of crap. It too is a timeless classic, but unlike FFVI, it never got the chance to be appreciated. FFV was origionally turned down for release in America because Americans didn't come to appreciate good RPGs until now. It improved the battle system showcased in FFIV, it added an innovative job class system so successful it was used again in another underappreciated Square game called Final Fantasy Tactics. The graphics, which are now more or less archaic, were top of the line at it's release. The story gets a bit melodramatic at times, and the music isn't as memorabvle as other FF soundtracks, but all in all it's most attractive quality is it's difficulty. In an era of RPG where you can level up in every battle, replay the game with boosted stats, and find items to make the game ridicously easy; a game where you actually have to think and work at levelling up gets frowned upon by lazy and young gamers. Maybe I'm just too old-school, but I missed that part of Final Fantasy. Ah, FFVI... the ground breaking RPG. This single game added so many gamers to the RPG bandwagon taht it's not funny. A game this deep and rich certainly lives up to the fanfare I'm blowing at it. Over a dozen playable characters (one hidden), each having special traits and qualities, each with an individual story and development, are just unforgettable. Terra's confused memory and circumstance, Relm's goofy antics, and Shadow's dark and shrouded past add to a deep storyline. And what as story it is! War, peace, a world torn by greed and mistrust... An aging empire and a power-hungry madman who literally tears the world apart... So much depth it'll blow your mind. But, despite that, the classics were, and still are, golden. And rightly so. But it for FFVI, even if you can't appreciate FFV. | |
I hate all RPGs!! | |
| I have played this game and I hate it!! Instead of just killing people and blowing up tanks, you have to walk around and find stuff; and when you do fight, you engage one enemy at a time take turns fighting, how stupid is that?!! NOBODY take turns figting in real life. Also, why does Final Fantasy and a bunch of other RPGs take place in Medieval Times? Why is it all ogre and dragon slaying? I also don't like FF's mixture of Medieval and modern technology. You should just play a game where you're surrounded by enemies and all you do is obliterate them. I'm basically talking about games like Halo, MechAssault, Turok 2:Seeds of Evil, and Star Wars:Shadows of the Empire; those are the great games!! Also, none of those games are a part of the Playstation monopoly, infact, none of those games are available for PSX or PS2. All RPGs suck as a matter of fact!! Stick to first/third person shooter games, they're much better because you kill and destroy minus the long storys and searching for crap. I made some good choices in my life, those are purposely buying a Sega Genesis so I can play Sonic and Ren and Stimpy:Stimpy's Invention but not FF. The other is purposely buying an N64 so I can play Star Wars:Shadows of the Empire and Turok 2:Seeds of Evil but not FF. The last is purposely buying an XBOX so I could play Halo and MechAssault but not FF. Boycott this garbage, you won't be sorry!! |
