Diaper Champ

User rating: 5Definitely the Champ!!!!
My son is 2 1/2 months old and we have been using the Champ from the beginning. I didn't like what I heard about the Genie--having to empty it from the bottom and messing with a sausage of dirty diapers. I researched and found the Champ. It was more than I wanted to pay for a pail, but by far the best choice! I have read that some people had problems with it breaking, but the majority have had no problem. Someone complained that you have to wrap the diaper up into a little bundle and fasten it with the diaper tapes. I have ALWAYS done this in my babysitting years, pail or no pail, so to me it's second nature.
I like just buying scented garbage bags from the dollar tree instead of expensive refills.
As for odor---we NEVER have a dirty diaper smell in the nursery. I empty it every 2-3 days to keep it from collecting too much odor because think about it---do you really want dirty diapers sitting around for very long??
I spray it with Lysol every time I change the bag and that keeps it smelling fresh.
Forget the Genie, ignore any bad reviews of the Champ and chalk them up to isolated bad experiences. By far, the Champ rules!!
User rating: 4A real winner in our nursery
In reading some of the other reviews, I think it's all been said but I guess I'll say it again anyway. :) I love the Diaper Champ - you can operate it with one hand (allowing you a free hand to hold down a squirming baby on the changing table), no special bags to purchase, and odor-free if you stay on top of changing the bag and spraying with Lysol every few bag changes. My husband and I tend to let it get to the point that we have to actually push the plunger down to get the diaper to go in and still the nursery is odor-free for playing or sleeping. And I must admit, I have a 1 yr. old who eats everything under the sun and even when it comes time to change the bag, it's not that bad. Tie it up fast and you're good to go. ;) I will admit that it can be hard to open, but if it were easier, I'd have dirty diapers strung from one end of the room to the other because of my busy boy!!! I highly recommend the Diaper Champ!
User rating: 5Excellent purchase!
I was trying to decide between this and the Diaper Genie, but so many of my friends had told me that they had stopped using the Diaper Genie after a few weeks b/c it was such a pain to empty AND you have to buy refills for it.

I knew I'd never buy the refills much less want to deal with a hassle emptying diapers, so I got the Diaper Champ.

I couldn't be happier.

- No smell (except of course when you empty it)
- Takes regular trash bags, which is VERY convenient!
- Very easy to empty

I wouldn't fall for the Diaper Genie. Diaper Champ is great, especially for the money!
