Stuff (like Maxim, Gear, etc.) burst into popularity in the late '90's. If you're looking for in depth articles and significant cultural insight, you've come to the wrong place. This magazine targets itself at male Gen X-ers with attention spans that barely outlast a MacDonald's commercial. If you want glossy pics of scantily-clad young women celebs, snippets on hip trends, and comics with juvenile pranks and practical jokes, this magazine is for you.
User rating: 4These Guys Are Nuts!
What's interesting is that this is definitely more of a humor magazine than anything else, although the humor aspect is not made apparent until you start actually reading the articles. Then is becomes obvious that everything in it is totally cracked! Nuts! Flipped! Twisted! and Insane!

There have been many times I've burst into fits of laughter at the off-the-wall and unexpected humor displayed in their CD reviews, articles, editorials, interviews, and photospreads. I recently read a review of Metallica's "St. Anger" that had me rolling on the floor laughing! I read it at work during a break and created such a ruckus with laughter that I had no choice but to read the review to the people at work, since they were so curious what was tickling my funny bone.

Also, I think it's a good idea that they feature quality photospreads of non-naked women. The pictures are great and nobody should be offended.

Plus, they do review the latest electronic gizmos and "stuff", again, with their funny and warped sense of humor. Nobody could say these guys take themselves too seriously, or are in any way, manner or form pompous. On the contrary, they're more Monty Python than Hugh Hefner.

I'm surprised how much I've enjoyed this crazy magazine!

User rating: 2Snarky
I've at various times subscribed to Stuff, Maxim, and FHM magazines. Stuff was the only one I ended up not resubscribing to. It has its moments and the photography is fine. I would describe it as Maxim's younger brother. It's whole attitude seems to be like the younger sibling of the popular kid in high school, and this kid then tries to be hip by being just as funny, etc., but it is forced and very juvenile. It just is snarky and predictable after awhile. On the other hand, I'm not 21 anymore either, and maybe if I was in my 20's I would find this the height of humor.
