Southern Living has it all...
| If you're looking for a magazine with a little bit of everything, look no further. If you've never perused this magazine you don't know what you are missing. Southern Living is divided into six main sections: Travel, Gardens, Homes, Foods, Southwords, and Directories. In the travel section you will find articles about traveling in the south. Whether you have time for a long vacation or just a quick weekend getaway, Southern Living has you covered. The garden section features helpful information on all types of gardening and even has a section where readers can write in with their questions. The homes section has everything from decorating tips to house plans. The food section (my favorite!) always has great southern recipes ranging from simple desserts to delicious main dishes. The food section also has seasonal features such as thanksgiving and Christmas recipes. Southwords are articles dispersed throughout the magazine covering everything from books about the south to short stories of remembered places, vacations, and childhoods from the south. A lot of families I know have started Southern Living traditions. Everytime a relative gets married, the bride is given a subscription to Southern Living. I think it's a wonderful idea. | |
A little of this...a little of that
| SL magazine has articles on travel, reading, gardening and of course Food! Travel articles will take you not only to the South, but through the whole US. Best places to eat, shop & sleep (with contact information) are included. The August issue introduced me to a book titled "Flabbergasted". So far it's great. My mom is the gardener but I'm learning. And food-now that's what I love. The recipes range from simple snacks to extravagent meals. Some of the recipes are a little more trouble than I would like but hey, gourmet is not my thing. I'm down-home Southern cooking. In all it's a great magazine. | |
Thick magazine full of color gardening photos and reviews.
| I just moved to the South so I thought I better learn about the area! This is a fun magazine. It's very thick, with sections on vacation spots, restaurant reviews, garden how-tos, home remodeling, and lots of recipes. I've already learned how to eat a steamed crab and that there are bed and breakfasts on islands off the Georgia coast. |
