It compels the reader to consider the steps taken today and their potential impact of tomorrow. As an educator, it is concerning the science in our school system is seen as an extra; not an essential core subject. Enriquez, points out- on page 159: "Growth and wealth... will be distributed unevenly, as long as a few communities...pay more attention...to their children's science education...And disproportionately attract the world's best brains." As schools address standards based education, educators need to embrace the technology and genetic codices; so that we are preparing our young people to embrace the future. Presently, standards are high- but always need to be reassessed, so that creative thinking, research design and development is fostered; in preparing our students in the 21st century.
