| A Reason to Love Music Again | |
| When I think about Maroon5...the first word that comes to mind is just...WOW! Ok, so not very literate or verbal for a teacher, but these guys have formed the best band I have ever heard or seen in my life. I fell in love with their first single, "Harder to Breathe", which was followed by "This Love" another terrific song. So, on a lark, and a gift certificate, I bought the cd 4 months ago, thinking I would only listen to the two songs I liked (since that's what I always do when I buy cds)! Well, two weeks later, on a long trip I decided to finally listen to the entire cd...since then, it has not left my cd player. So again, wow! I don't know what else I can say about these guys that hasn't been said before. Originally Kara's Flowers...they grew up, added James Valentine, found a new sound...and Maroon5 was born. They have uniquely combined rock with jazz, soul, pop, and R&B. They are like nothing I had ever heard before or since. They are excellent at their craft...Adam Levine (lead vocals/guitar), James Valentine (guitar), Jesse Carmichael (vocals/keyboards/guitar), Mickey Madden (bass), and Ryan Dusick (vocals/drums)...all of them simply too phenomenal for words! But beyond that, these are just really great guys who love what they do and love their fans. You can't get much better than that. As far as the album goes...I love every song (and that's saying alot...because I never like every song that a band does). Best ones in my opinion though: Secret: it just doesn't get much better than this Tangled: great, great rock song Shiver: best song performed live She Will Be Loved: a great ballad and the next single The Sun: jazziest song on the album All of these songs are great...but, you haven't truly experienced the magic of Maroon5 until you see them live! | One day my sister came back from a Sugar Ray/Matchbox20 concert this summer and said she was amazed by this new band called Maroon 5 that opened up the show. One day later i heard their first single "Harder to Breathe" and i was blown away. They bring fun back into rock music and instead of being all about anger and angst they make rock fun again. They have a unique sound to them that blends funk, rock, pop, and soft melodic rock like Coldplay and John Mayer. As good as the album is, they are even better live, they sound like the CD live which is very hard to do with the amount of energy they put out from the stage. the CD has a wide range of songs with funk rockers like "Harder to Breathe" and "Tangled", softer, melodic songs like "She Will Be Loved" and "Secret", singer/songwriter and coffee house vibed songs like "Sunday Morning", and the more rocking songs like "Through With You" and "Not Coming Home". They really go out on a limb and have something for everyone. Adam Levine (main songwriter, vocals, guitar) sends the listener through a variety of different emotions about love and life. When i first listened to "Songs About Jane" i was kinda dissapointed that it wasn't more like "Harder to Breathe" but after listening to it more it has grown on me, alot. My personal favorite song on the CD is "Not Coming Home" which has great guitar licks and music. The lyrics tell the listener about being dumped and having the strength to get over it and be better because of it. Some of my other favorites are "Sweetest Goodbye", "Harder to Breathe", and "Sunday Morning". Overall, this is a great album worth buying. There is great music, great lyrics, and a great future ahead for Maroon 5. I can't wait for their next album. | |

| This cd is the best one yet! Even though seeing and hearing " She Will Be Loved" like million times, I still like it. Especially " Harder to Breathe". That song is awesome! Even though it is like a Stevie Wonder thing, it still sounds good. It's like, who isn't gonna use different artist's ideas? People who are thinking about buying this cd, do because if you like " This Love", " She Will Be Loved," and " Harder to Breathe", this cd is meant for you! |
