| Solid wood! |
I detest particle board, which I find unattractive and shoddy no matter the price, so I set out to find a solid wood desk. This is harder than one might think, and considerably more expensive than particle board. Happened to be in Target, and I found an attractive desk for an excellent price. This desk looks much nicer than many mid-priced desks I looked at (well into 3X-5X the price range). The beautiful dark walnut stain matches antique European furniture but would also be at home with more modern decor. I'd say the lines are relatively simple without being spartan/boring and would fit with a range of styles. It is also reasonably functional - the desk has a keyboard tray and the hutch is high enough to fit over my 19" monitor. Unit is under 4' wide, so nice if you're looking for a desk for a cramped apartment or a smaller laptop desk or similar. I also recommend the Dolce file cabinet for a bit of extra surface space to hold printers or scanners and, obviously, to store files. It was easy to assemble and the boxes fit in the backseat of my car. Additionally, the hutch (and perhaps the desk, although it is not labelled as such) is made of ecologically-friendly rubberwood. As another reviewer commented, the time spent shopping at "trendy" furniture stores was a total waste; their quality is generally poor and their prices skyhigh. I feel I got quite a bargain with this unit...
The only problem I had was also noted by a previous reviewer who mentioned that s/he found a broken peg in their model. Same problem with mine; looks like a predrilled hole/peg combo was botched during manufacture, but it doesn't affect the appearance as the damage is hidden when the desk is assembled. |
| Great purchase for the money |
| My husband and I bought the coffee table when we first moved into our house 3 years ago or so. Considering we have 3 kids we didn't want to spend a lot of money on furniture, knowing that it would be subject to kids, but still wanted something nice looking and affordable. This collection is well worth the money we believe. We were so pleased that we went a few months later and purchased the desk and hutch. Also, it has proven itself to be sooo worth the money. (in fact I am sitting at it now) 3 years later, still going strong. Nothing has broken on either piece and we have moved them both around our house several times. Held up well to our three kids. Would definately buy again if needed to. Recommend highly to those just starting out who want something sturdy, functional and nice looking. |

| Hello. It is my pleasure to recommend this piece of furniture to anyone. I have had the desk for two years now with the hutch and love it. This was my first furniture buying experience with Target and have since gone abck and bought more items. I have purchased all items in-store and have not had a single broken piece! It is durable and has held up well for me despite two moves! |
