SHAZAM! | |
| One of the best figures DC Direct could make, I have like 3 Shazam!s figures because he is simply AMAZING!. | |
SHAZAM!! The Big Red Cheeze never looked quite so good.
| If you're gonna buy ONE figure from Wave 2, get this guy. He's not per se an action figure - articulation is very limited - but the detail will blow you away. From the military jacket to the sash and the cape to the KC trademark eerie grin, SHAZAM is one of the best-sculpted pieces I've ever seen. Superb paint job (no stickers here!). Match him up with KC Superman (if you're lucky enough to own one) for the History's Longest Staring Contest. | |
Earth's Mightiest Mortal - Captain Marvel
| This is, without a doubt, the finest Captain Marvel figure ever made. The Big Red Cheese has had few figures in his time when compared to Superman or Batman, and they have all unfortunately been a bit off. Finally, a figure to be proud of. Captain Marvel's costume was not radically altered in the "Kingdom Come" mini-series, so this figure works as both a classic version as well as for fans of "Kingdom Come." The only real change was making the yellow on his costume gold, which works quite well. Other than that, the costume used is the original Captain Marvel outfit from Whiz #2, complete with military-style jacket and genie belt. The sculpting of the figure is perfect, an exact replica of Alex Ross's famous artwork. The head captures Captain Marvel's big grin and squinting eyes. The figures color's are quite nice as well, although a bit brighter than the muted colors shown in the picture. Of course, as with most modern "action" figures, the Kingdom Come Captain Marvel figure lacks any interesting articulation, and can only stand naturally in the offered pose. Any playing with the figures arms and legs looks silly, and it is a statue for all intents and purposes. |
