desktop features, notebook portability
| i bought this mouse a few months back and it has been great to say the least. the receiver picks up your every movement precisely, it is a sturdy very well made mouse (have dropped it twice already on tile floor). the battery life is great, thanks to the auto-shutoff feature it has. Of course you also get the on/off switch. the case it comes with is also very high quality (although i use it to store my ipod, not the mouse). logitech is a great, reliable company and they have come through once again with this mouse. by the way i did try out the microsoft equivalent and not only did it feel very cheap, but it did not pick up my movement quite as nicely as the logitech. would definitely recommend! | |
very uncomfortable | |
| the mouse looks very nice, and it is compact, at beginning you do not feel too much, but as time going on it feel heavier and heavier, and you have to try to use some strength to click the button.
overall not recommond to buy it.
Does not work properly with Mac OS X
| I bought this mouse to replace the Apple Pro Mouse, which finally died after 5 years (that was my favorite mouse despite the one button). I settled on the Logitech mouse after searching far and wide for a comfortable cordless mouse with a scroll wheel. This mouse is definitely comfortable for my small hands. The tracking and scrolling are smooth, not jumpy like the Kensington mice. It was smooth even without a mousepad. The buttons have a soft-sounding click. The left button requires slightly more pressure to click.
The problem is the current mouse driver - Logitech Control Center version 1.4.1. Although Mac OS X has built-in support to control the tracking and scrolling speeds, if you want to program the buttons then you must install Logitech's driver. I like to program the scroll button 'click' as the Back button for web browsing. When installed, the driver controls how the buttons behave and the scrolling speed, but not the tracking speed. You must continue to use the Keyboard & Mice preference pane to set the tracking speed. Whenever you restart the computer (and this will happen sooner or later), the setting for tracking speed disappears, so the tracking will revert to the default (very) fast speed. To counter this, you will have to keep resetting the tracking speed. Logitech is aware of this problem but has not fixed it since Panther was released. So regardless of which Logitech mouse you use, if you have to use the driver under Mac OS X, then the mouse will not work properly. I'll be returning this mouse and will have to find a different brand cordless mouse to use with my iMac. |
