You can get replacement probes - but why should you have to?
| I used mine once, and it fried. If you call Weber's absolutely fantastic helpline (really, it is great), they will ship you a new one. The company is good, this product is a victim of the type of thermocouple they chose to use. The Weber help line says the new ones are beefier, but I suspect that they marketed this product without verifying that it can be used in an actual grill. What were they thinking? A grill thermometer that cannot stand the heat of a grill? Stupid. I love my Genesis grill, but the probe is simply inferior. Still, after 1 week, my replacement probe is still working, so there is hope :) | |
Works great until probe fails - no replacement!
| I have had one of these for 3 years. It worked really well. Then, the probe burned out (I think I pushed it too far into thin meat
and it hit the grill rack); it shows 199 degrees - so I assume this means the probe is bad. You cannot buy a new probe! This is absurd. If any product should allow you to replace a part, this is it. But, I have had a lot of success with it until now (3 years). Note that if you have something else which transmits at 433MHz, do not get it. This product cannot tolerate interference from something else - no special band hopping or anything.
Brand new broke before I used it,no replacement parts
| The instruction tell you only in very small print that if the probe touches the metal grill that it burns out the thermister and they dont offer replacement parts so you buy a new one and read the instructipons fine, fine print. |
