very good | |
| didn't like it that much at first, but after listening to a few times it grew on me. not as heavy as their first cd, but still pretty good. | |
sell out? | |
| i don't usually review CDs on amazon cuz it seems like a moot point, if you dig the band you dig em, if ya don't then ya don't, plain and simple...you think mudvayne is metal?...ha, you're funny...our radio stations around here don't play mudvayne, MTV doesn't play mudvayne...if they're selling out they aren't doing a very good job of it...i love this CD...quit crying cuz it's not LD 50, if a band creates a CD that sounds similar to their last one, they get spit at for not having any originality, they change their sound a little bit and they're selling out?...get a grip on reality kids cuz i'm dying for the day MTV plays IMN...determined, pushing through, happy?, imn, fall into sleep, choices, and forget to remember are among the best tracks mudvayne has ever put out...they changed their sound, get over it | |
it's more radio friendly, but it's still good | |
| This whole cd is a watered down, radio friendly side of Mudvayne that all fans hoped to never see. I was extremely disappointed with this cd at first, but after listening to it quite a bit, I realized that it's a good cd, even if it is a little shallow to be coming from Mudvayne. If you, like me, pick up this cd expecting an L.D. 50 or The End of All Things to Come, prepare to be disappointed. This isn't a musically complex album with depth. It's still a good cd, though. Here are the individual ratings of the songs:
Determined: 3/5. At first I didn't like it, then I liked it. Now I kinda skip it since it's filler compared to everything else on the cd. Pushing Through: 4/5. Pretty good song. I really like the guitar riff, which, by the way, sort of reminds me of Internal Primates Forever, track number 3 off of L.D. 50. Happy?: 4/5. Great song. Lots of melody and singing. Definitely a good choice for a single. IMN: 5/5. It's pure noise, and unorganized at that, but strangely it's one of my favorite tracks. I especially love when the song slows down and it gets to the singing part with that awesome guitar riff. Also, on a side note, this is the first song on the cd to make the trademark Mudvayne bass noticeable. Fall Into Sleep: 5/5. I wasn't too sure about this song at first, but it's grown on me. The guitar is really great, and even though it's not necessarily fast paced, it's got really good music and vocals. Rain.Sun.Gone: 3/5. Eh, it's not a bad song, it just doesn't really do anything for me. Kinda...well, blah. Seems like filler to me. Choices: 5/5. I really like this song, even if it is a bit lengthy. When it gets to the part where he sings "We don't have a choice, anymore, anyway," the song gets REALLY good. My only real gripe about the song is that stupid "eenie meenie minie mo" thing in the verse. Forget to Remember: 5/5. Awesome guitar throughout the whole song, especially in the verses. The beginning sorta reminds of the song What Drives the Weak by Shadows Fall. TV Radio: 4/5. A lot of people gripe about how this song makes the band a bunch of hypocrites. The song isn't about abandoning all sorts of electronic media, it's about seeing that there's more to life than just TV and radio. Anyways, this song has a REALLY REALLY good guitar riff. The only thing that kept me from giving it a five is that the chorus is kinda weak, and it gets repetitive. I mean, how many times does he say "I don't wanna be" in that thing? Just: 6/5. Second fave song on the cd. KICKASS guitar riff, good fast pace, great drums, everything's good. This song really reflects the brilliance and skill they used in their past work. A definite stand out on the cd. All That You Are: 6.5/5. My favorite song on the cd. I barely like it more than Just. It's got a melancholy guitar riff in the beginning, and the vocals throughout the entire thing are awesome. It seems like it's gonna be all sad and stuff through the whole song, then it cuts to the part when he starts saying "Callous! Frigid! Empty! Because of you!" and it picks up for a bit. This song is unlike anything else Mudvayne has done, and definitely shows that they still have skill, they just held back on this cd. Pulling the String: 5/5. Great closer for the cd. Reminiscent of the style in The End of All Things to Come. This song has the most notable bass work, bringing back the clicky slap noises and the high pitch pops that made Ryan Martinie a fundamental member of the band. This is one of the better songs on the cd. If you really liked the style in the song (Per)version of a Truth, then you'll really like this track. Anyways, if you're just looking for a good listen and not a masterpiece, you'll enjoy this. If you're looking for something that will kill L.D. 50, don't even bother with it. |
